Overview

Maya – Forgotten Tiles is a memory-matching puzzle game built around the imagery and mythology of the ancient Mayan civilisation. Players explore temple environments, pairing hieroglyph tiles to collect gold coins and unlock facts about Mayan culture and history.

Developed as a three-person project, the game launched on iOS and Android with three difficulty levels, local multiplayer, and 24 unlockable achievements — combining engaging puzzle mechanics with an educational layer that rewards curiosity.

The game launched in 2015 and has unfortunately recently been delisted from App Store & Google Play Store.

Responsibilities

  • Game design contribution — puzzle structure, difficulty progression, and player feedback loops
  • UI design — layout, iconography, and in-game interface elements
  • Animations — tile reveal effects, transitions, and achievement unlocks
  • Art direction — visual style, hieroglyph illustrations, and environmental theming
